Book 2 Box Office (Hollywood Services)

Hollywood Services

Just as publishers are looking for the next best seller, entertainment executives are seeking fresh, new content for higher ratings on TV or at the Box Office. This fresh content, more times than not, comes from already published works in all book categories. Acquiring a buyer for the future rights of a work in TV, Motion Picture, Documentary or Movie-of-the-Week formats (Getting Optioned) is an extremely lucrative possibility.

Dog Ear Publishing’s Book 2 Box Office Service gives independent authors/publishers the same chance as the traditionally published to court Hollywood. Dog Ear’s Entertainment Producer will oversee the development of all industry documents needed in order to successfully sell your work in Hollywood (coverage, market analysis, treatment), and we don’t stop there. Dog Ear Publishing’s Book 2 Box Office Service includes and guarantees that your work will be pitched to potential industry buyers.

Let Dog Ear Publishing be your option to get optioned; we’re ready to serve.

Generally, this is a 3-4 page entertainment-industry formatted synopsis of your book. It will include a one-line "TV Guide" logline. This is the Hollywood version of Cliff's Notes, or a book report of sorts. This condensed form is designed to give interested buyers a sense of the work’s scope and content.

Market Analysis
This report’s purpose is to describe and define the most appropriate and likely most marketable distribution format for the book when adapted for screen and pitched (e.g. feature film, television drama, reality/game show, internet). It also will list the type of potential buyers that exist in the market to purchase such a work in this format.

Entertainment Treatment
The treatment is an industry formatted adaptation of your book featuring its major plot elements/points in a creative ready-for-TV, Film or Internet structure. Interested buyers use a treatment to better determine the project’s scope, tone, and potential in the market for the book in adapted form. The treatment is what brings the source material to life for a would-be buyer and allows a buyer to judge how the material can be super sized for mass consumption. A well developed Entertainment Treatment is advised when pitching the work to possible buyers.
