My life took an unexpected turn when I started dogsledding. I didn’t know what I was doing or how I was going to do it, but I taught one lead dog the commands and I’ve been hooked ever since. I own and operate a business called Second Chance Mushers, and we give dogsled rides to the general public. Second Chance Mushers also rescues Siberian huskies and Alaskan malamutes in hopes of finding them new homes. These breeds are often abandoned, and I take them in to find them new homes with people who truly understand their needs. My chosen career in life was as a registered nurse. Luckily this job can allow me to relocate anywhere to live with my dogs. I selected Traverse City, Michigan, because the area is absolutely beautiful and they have plenty of snow to satisfy my dogsledding urges. I know my life would feel empty without these dogs to share it with.
