Sing Loudly in your
Car! A Book of Whimsy for Grown-ups is a playful
collection of poems, essays and illustrations exploring the
delights and disappointments of everyday life. Its youthful
energy may remind you of parts of yourself you had forgotten
all about. Don'’t be alarmed if you find yourself giggling
out loud!
The rhyming poems celebrate
life's pleasures and absurdities with colorful characters and
vivid detail, while the list of daily annoyances ("Dontcha
hate when….") adds levity to life's daily downfalls.
The prose memories recall the author's childhood as told through
a child's voice, but with a grown-up's wisdom. Whether describing
expressions of love, life in today's fast-paced society, or
finding one's own voice, Rosenbaum takes on each topic with
thoughtfulness and humor. Whimsical black and white illustrations,
the type usually reserved for children's books, enhance the
writings with imaginative flair. This is a book that you will
return to again and again.

About the Author
Lynn Rosenbaum published her first poem "A
Winter Walk" at age 11 and has continued to write when she
feels like it, ever since. Her accomplishments include creating
Floating, a CD of her original music, writing about sex
for Our Bodies, Ourselves and painting her car with dancing
figures. She has a BA in Dance and Psychology, an MA in Sociology,
and works as an educator for social change. She practices Insight
Meditation and lives in Medford, Massachusetts.
Sing Loudly in Your Car
first emerged as a bumper sticker on the back of her 1993 Toyota.*
The sticker had to be re-created 3 times (the number of times
the backside of her car got hit!) and then finally evolved into
this book. Inspired by authors such as Shel Silverstein (Where
the Sidewalk Ends) and Kaye Gibbons (Ellen
Foster), Rosenbaum channels her playful spirit into
her writing, music and dance and gives us all a boost.
About the Illustrator
Brooke Hendrickson, a native of New Jersey, is a graduate of
the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She currently enjoys living
in her adopted city of Boston, MA.
