Reader response to PS, I Love You by
Robert Montgomery
I wanted to tell you how your writing makes
me feel....envious, inspired, emotional, and weird. I am so jealous
of your talent...but I am inspired by it, too. I cried over the
girl in Paris. I long for you to have love again And the weirdness
of knowing that you are alone after having read your chapters
is unbelievable. I am sure that once it is published and you put
your e-mail address on the cover, you will have too many women
to choose from. Really. It's that powerful.
Powerful. That is what I think of your chapters.
Thank you for sharing them with me. That darn Pammie!

I can't stop reading the chapter “Lost
Love'” That story is universal, in so many ways, for every
one of us. We are either you, Robert, or, her, Catherine. I tear
up every time I read it and realize now at 47, how short life
is and how we squander so many opportunities in our lives, to
love or be loved - for whatever our reasons are.

The letters are very revealing
and very touching. A book of this type will probably be read by
women and the value is that women get a glimpse into what guys
are like, what they are thinking. So often guys come across as
macho, jock, etc. And secretly, inside, they’re shy and
unsure of themselves.
As you know, women always want to know “why doesn’t
he call me?” I believe these letters (confessions!) could
answer that question. Women tend to think they did something wrong,
or they’re not beautiful or sexy enough and that’s
why the guy seems to have no interest in them. The real reason
is probably much more about the man and how much confidence he
has in his ability to engage women in an interesting way.

These letters are the opposite
of the James Bond macho-man and give a rare glimpse into the psyche
of an adult male. If other men have these memories and feelings,
we never hear about them. Maybe most men have such memories, and
(dare I say?) regrets, but they either don’t want to reveal
them, or think no one else would understand, or . . . whatever
other reason would there be for not ever seeing this type of “male
confession” before?

Wow--that is really good stuff. Really good.
Wow. I think you made up the fight attendant though. :))

Your love letters are becoming quite a
collection. I really have a good feeling about them. It's so insightful
into how a man thinks and feels - i.e., how you have come to learn
to feel. You have known lots of women and yet you remember their
names and can describe what they meant to you. I don't think every
man would be able to say that.

I so enjoy hearing the true feelings and
reactions of men dealing with women. Your memories go back a long
way.
Intimacy can be so transcendent. But getting to it is like crossing
the river Styx. You almost have to let part of yourself die to
be born again. And when it doesn't work out...well, that's like
being expelled from Paradise.
